We’re the husband-and-wife team behind The Garden Sage. Our work brings together a love of gardening, decades of practical experience, and a simple belief: caring for a property begins with caring about the people who call it home.

A gardener’s knowledge. A gift for taking care of people.

Holly’s longstanding love of gardening is backed by ten years of extensive horticultural and landscape training. Through close mentorship with her husband, Josh, dedicated study of horticultural and landscape materials, and years of hands-on work, she has developed a deep, practical understanding of plants and the care they need.

That knowledge shapes more than a beautiful planting. Holly considers how plants grow together, how a display will change through the season, and what it will take to keep it healthy. She brings that thoughtful approach to containers, garden beds, seasonal color, and the details that make a home feel welcoming.

Her background in hospitality and the service industry is just as much a part of her work. Holly listens, gets to know each client’s preferences, and values the personal relationships that grow over time. She wants you to feel comfortable asking questions and confident that your wishes are understood.

Josh

A lifetime outdoors. The judgment to move things forward.

A Western North Carolina native, Josh has spent his career working outdoors. His studies at Penn State and 20 years of leadership at Kenmure as a golf course superintendent bring a depth of experience that reaches well beyond any one part of a landscape.

Managing a golf course means understanding how turf, plants, soil, water, weather, people, and budgets affect one another. Josh brings that same whole-property perspective to The Garden Sage, whether he’s tracking down an irrigation problem, assessing plant health, or planning the next step in a property’s care.

Years of responsibility have taught him to assess a situation quickly, make a sound decision, and stay focused on resolution. He looks for the underlying cause, explains the options in plain language, and draws on trusted specialists when a situation calls for additional expertise.

We’ve both lived and worked in the Hendersonville area for many years. Our longstanding relationships with neighbors, clients, and local service providers are part of the foundation of The Garden Sage. We understand the value of knowing who to call, working well with others, and following through for people we’ll see again around town.
