A sensible first response
Observe rather than transport spiders or egg sacs to new sites. Avoid broad insecticide use around an occupied web.
When to look
August and September photographs. Large females become conspicuous toward autumn.
Identification
The September photographs clearly show an elongated yellow abdomen crossed by broad gray-blue bands, a silvery cephalothorax and very long black-and-yellow legs. August views are consistent with developing females. These images support Jorō spider; they are not evidence that the same individual was followed across dates.
Lookalikes & limits
Yellow garden spiders have a different abdominal pattern and often a conspicuous zigzag silk band. Golden silk orb-weavers have spotted abdomens and prominent leg tufts. Early juvenile photographs are catalogued separately at lower confidence.

A generalist insect predator. Its ecological effects in its introduced range remain an active research topic.
